Random Joy

Happiness lies not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort. ~ Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Thanks to everyone who wrote a poem or commented on the last post, it really helped me understand why I was so ‘tapped out’ and unable to write a photo poem. Your words made me realize how cold and gray it’s been. As much as I love the stark beauty of winter, I’ve had ENOUGH! I’m so ready for some warmth and color. I’ve been setting my camera aside and painting pretty colors and editing summer photos. It’s really helped me feel more JOY : ))) Here is one of my favorite edits so far …

Pink Lotus Petal

Lotus Leaving

You can see more flowers here in my new gallery. I’m so excited to have a new plug-in that makes it easier to see and share my favorite photos. I’d love it if you have a few minutes to tell me which are your top 3 flower photos. If you click here it will take you to the new gallery. (This will help me to decide which ones to print on glass.)

This tulip makes me smile every time I see it. It’s in my top 3 and it’s the first one I printed on glass, it’s now available here in the shop :)

And if you have even more time, I’d really appreciate your opinion on these paintings. I’m having some prints and cards made of this one called ‘Falling In Love’

9x12 watercolor and ink heart painting

I want to figure out which of these 3 ‘I Love You’ paintings to make into a greeting card also?

And now if you have even more time I wanted to share some random links …

  • This link is fascinating and made me feel beautiful in a strange way ….I have no idea how to edit photos this much!
  • I’ve tried to learn code and it gives me a headache, but this link inspires me to keep at it.
  • I’ve been productive lately and it feels good. One of the new things that is keeping me on track is this email I fill out each night called ‘idonethis’. Here is a link that reviews the free option.

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate your opinions!

Photo Poem

I never find words right away. Poems for me always begin with images and rhythms, shapes, feelings, forms, dances in the back of my mind. ~ Gary Snyder, Poet 9 8 7 1

When I post a collection of photos that I hope will inspire a poem from you, I usually can’t wait to share mine in the comments. Today I’m feeling tapped out and I’m hoping to get inspired by your words. So please … pretty please tell me how these “images and rhythms, shapes, feelings, forms, (and) dances” influence you.

If this is your first time creating a ‘Photo Poem’ you can check out this post for more info.

Branching Out

Every branch of human knowledge if traced up to its source and final principles vanishes into mystery. ~ Arthur Machen 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

I’m branching out a bit. I joined a local coop gallery where I work once a week. It’s been so fun to meet a new group of artists. The gallery has an earthy/contemporary vibe, there is a wonderful collection of work by 10 women and 2 men. I love having a new place to bring my finished pieces and it has even inspired me to work on my online shop. You can now buy my Photos on Glass here online. If you’re local, feel free to stop by the Grove Gallery. I usually work on Wednesday afternoons, come on in for a cup of tea.

What have you been up to?
